The Pro Xe Stage 2 Hybrid Turbo is the highest-flowing K04-based turbocharger we offer for the Volvo P1 T5 (C30, S40, V50, C70) and P3 S60 T5 platforms.
Built for enthusiasts looking to maximize the potential of the factory K04 footprint, the Stage 2 takes our proven Stage 1 package further by addressing the primary limitation of every K04-based turbocharger: turbine-side flow capacity.
While many hybrid turbo builders focus solely on compressor wheel size, the reality is that the turbine housing becomes the dominant restriction at higher airflow levels. As engine RPM and exhaust volume increase, drive pressure rises dramatically. Eventually, exhaust flow begins to overpower the turbine assembly, reducing efficiency and forcing the wastegate open prematurely. This creates excessive backpressure, elevated exhaust gas temperatures, reduced airflow, and ultimately limits horsepower potential regardless of compressor size.
The Pro Xe Stage 2 was developed specifically to combat these issues.
HOW IS IT UPGRADED? WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT THAN STAGE 1?
Every Stage 2 Hybrid Turbo starts with our proven Stage 1 foundation and receives additional turbine-side modifications focused on improving high-RPM efficiency and reducing drive pressure. Our Lightweight 9 blade turbine wheel is clipped to allow even more peak flow, as-well as our technicians carefully cut the turbine housing in half to maximize volute porting, enhancing top end potential, and reseal it using high quality welds.

The clipped turbine wheel reduces exhaust restriction at higher shaft speeds, allowing the turbine to process more exhaust flow while reducing backpressure. Combined with extensive turbine housing modifications, the Stage 2 maintains efficiency deeper into the RPM range and produces substantially stronger top-end power than traditional K04 hybrids.
Every turbocharger is VSR balanced to 150,000 RPM and tested prior to shipment.

WHY STAGE 2?
The factory K04 turbine housing is capable of impressive performance, but once airflow demands exceed a certain point, turbine efficiency becomes the limiting factor.
Many hybrid turbochargers attempt to solve this by installing increasingly larger compressor wheels while leaving the exhaust side largely unchanged. The result is often increased boost pressure without a proportional increase in actual airflow.
The Stage 2 takes the opposite approach.
By improving the turbine housing, turbine wheel, wastegate flow, and exhaust-side efficiency, the turbo is able to process significantly more exhaust energy while generating less backpressure. This allows the engine to breathe more efficiently, lowers exhaust gas temperatures, improves high-RPM airflow, and extends the usable powerband well beyond what a conventional K04 hybrid can achieve.
The result is a turbocharger that continues pulling hard where many K04 hybrids begin to fall off.
