 The Pro Xe P1 Hybrid Turbo is a fully re-engineered turbo unit designed specifically for Volvo P1 T5 platforms (C30 / S40 / V50 / C70) and P3 s60. Designed as a true bolt-on upgrade, the Pro Xe hybrid retains OEM fitment while delivering a substantial increase in airflow, efficiency, and power potential over the stock K04. Fast response, and long-term reliability, not just peak numbers.

HOW IS IT UPGRADED?

Each Pro Xe hybrid turbo is fully disassembled, machined, ported, coated and hand-assembled in-house. Attacking main components that are known for causing premature failure in other K04 hybrids. Our CHRA is upgraded with improved bearing components and optimized oil journal clearances to enhance oil control, reduce friction, and improve durability under sustained boost. The compressor and turbine housings are machined to fit the larger wheels and extensively ported for increased flow, then paired with a matched upgraded billet compressor wheel and a high-flow cutback turbine.

Every Pro Xe turbocharger is VSR balanced to 150,000 RPM to strict motorsport tolerances, ensuring smooth operation and long-term reliability at high shaft speeds. After balancing, each unit is run through our in-house turbo simulator where it is flow tested and pressure tested under controlled conditions. During this process we monitor shaft speed, nominal airflow, and pressure leakage at precise levels, confirming that every turbo meets our performance and quality standards before it leaves the shop.

WHY A HYBRID ?

Rather than pushing the T5 into an oversized turbo setup, this hybrid is engineered to maximize the usable efficiency of the factory K04 frame. Compared to a K16, it offers faster spool, stronger midrange torque, and lower drive pressure, making it better suited for real-world street driving. The upgraded billet compressor and matched turbine allow the engine to move more air without sacrificing response, resulting in a broader power band, improved throttle control and cleaner power all around.

Why Pro Xe?

Pro Xe turbos are developed with a focus on true flow bottlenecks—not just installing bigger wheels and expecting real gains. We prioritize the turbine volute and throat geometry, then extensively port the runner inlets to the manifold to reduce turbulence and improve real airflow where it matters most—an area most builders overlook or ignore entirely. Our turbos are designed to pull the maximum potential that a k04 housing based turbo can produce, compared to other companies offering Staged options, our only option outperforms most “stage 3” hybrids offered. Many builders chase power by oversizing the compressor wheel with “k16” or “k24” sized wheels , but in the stock K04 housing the exhaust side remains the limiting factor—creating back pressure, heat, and inefficiency—so a properly matched, sometimes smaller compressor that complements the turbine will actually move air more efficiently and make more usable power.

Recommended Supporting Hardware

This turbocharger is designed to bolt directly onto a stock Volvo P1 T5 and can be safely operated on stock hardware and a stock tune.

To fully utilize the airflow and power capability of the turbo, the following supporting modifications are recommended

  • Custom ECU calibration (boost, fueling, and torque management optimized)
  • High-flow intercooler (larger core / improved end tanks)
  • Upgraded fuel injectors (sized appropriately for fuel type)
  • High-flow intake system (improved inlet and charge piping)
  • Wastegate
  • High-flow downpipe (3” preferred)
  • Upgraded fuel pump (required for E85 setups)
  • Block Shims

Compatibility:

Direct-fit replacement for Volvo P1 T5 (S40 / C30 / V50) and Volvo P3 S60 T5.

Turbochargers across these platforms share identical housings and CHRA design. Verified via physical comparison and cross-vehicle test fitment.

Turbo Core Inspection Requirement (Before Purchase):

If you plan to send in your turbocharger for rebuild or upgrade, please do not place an order yet. Contact us via email first to coordinate.

We require your turbo to be shipped in for a free inspection to verify the core is suitable for rebuilding or upgrading (no severe housing damage, or excessive wear).

  • If the turbo is approved, we will notify you and proceed with invoicing/payment for the service.
  • If the turbo is not repairable, we will provide alternative options, including replacement or upgraded units.

 

Please Note: If the turbo is deemed non-repairable, return shipping will be the customer’s responsibility.

This ensures you are not paying for a service on a core that cannot be properly restored and allows us to maintain the highest quality standards.

Emissions & Regulatory Disclosure

This turbocharger is an aftermarket performance upgrade that may alter factory emissions characteristics when installed or calibrated for increased performance. Regulatory requirements vary by jurisdiction, vehicle configuration, and tuning strategy. Pro Xe Automotive makes no representation regarding emissions or inspection compliance, and determining legality and suitability for road use is the responsibility of the vehicle owner and installer.

Pro Xe Automotive Limited Warranty

Pro Xe Automotive warrants this turbocharger to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 12 months from the original date of purchase.

Coverage Includes

This warranty covers manufacturer defects related to:

  • Turbocharger assembly
  • CHRA components
  • Internal balancing and machining workmanship 

Warranty Does NOT Cover

This warranty does not cover damage or failure resulting from:

  • Improper installation or fitment
  • Oil starvation, contamination, or improper oil feed/return setup
  • Foreign object damage (FOD) to compressor or turbine
  • Over-speeding, over-boosting, or improper tuning
  • Use of non-approved or incompatible supporting modifications

Warranty & Sales Policy

  • All turbocharger sales are final once the build process has begun.
  • No money-back refunds are offered under any circumstances once a unit enters production.
  • Pro Xe Automotive does not provide cash refunds for warranty claims.
  • If a warrantable defect is confirmed, we will repair or replace the turbocharger at our discretion.

Warranty Process

  • Customer is responsible for shipping the turbocharger to Pro Xe Automotive for inspection.
  • If a warrantable defect is confirmed, Pro Xe Automotive will repair or replace the turbocharger and ship it back to the customer.
  • If the issue is determined to be non-warrantable, the customer will be contacted with available repair options.

Additional Notes

  • Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims.
  • Any modification, disassembly, or repair performed by a third party voids this warranty.
  • Pro Xe Automotive is not responsible for labor costs, vehicle downtime, towing, rental vehicles, or related damages.
